Once sheets are installed or patchwork and cut-ins are repaired / replaced, they should be finished using best standards and practices for drywall installation. An Allworx Handyman is well versed in the requirements and and skills required to finish off the job well, whether it’s a only a patch or single piece or it’s a whole house worth.
After taping and mudding the joints, the area needs to be sanded, skimmed, sanded, floated, sanded, sanded, a little bit of sanding is carried out, and then it gets sanded. There may even be a spot where the wall will require some sanding, and in some extreme cases, even sanding will be a necessary task to achieve a clean, professional, sanded smooth end product.
Next step would be to texture the walls. If it’s a small area, Allworx utilizes texture in a spray can, usually a product from the line of spray textures put out by Homax. For larger areas, a hopper and compound are used. Finish that off with the paintwork (which is matched at a local paint shop or dept) and that would wrap up your drywall installation.
New construction, fresh installs on new projects and clean fill-ins. Also finish up your nephews forgotten project or other guys no response tactics to dealing with unfinished work. Do It All. Call today for an appointment

Concrete backer board is a type of building material that is commonly used as a substrate for tile or other finished flooring surfaces in wet areas such as bathrooms or kitchens. It provides a flat, stable surface for the installation of tiles and helps to prevent moisture damage to the underlying structure. There are even waterproof and foam options coming out that are true innovations to how we protect the wall cavities in the humid and wet areas of our homes like bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms.
See what the code says about all that right here
This type of wet wall covering goes hand in hand with the guidelines discussed in the above Concrete Backer Board section in that it requires a proper backing substrate to stand behind this, or any other, wall finish layer. Alternatively, tiling is a popular way to finish the walls in your tub or shower stall.
In other instances, such as for a quick remedy for sink backsplashes green board can be utilized. Just make sure your installation techniques comply with and include an adhesive specifically designed for this type of covering to ensure your in line with proper installation practices with zero chance for failure.
Another day at the office over here at Allworx, and let me tell you in case you haven’t braved out the winter weather and gone outside despite the temps, it is bone chilling. Ruthlessly cold, some parts if the year.
-50 below with the wind chill? Thats just asinine! Downright outrageous, if not near enough too damn hard to even maneuver anything, tools or otherwise.
Many places around here still don’t have ANY insulation, or they are severely lacking in the proper amount to keep your space temperature moderate and comfortable, not to mention energy efficient or up to code.
Do It All? Yeah, it covers that, too.
Prices are subject to change and fluctuate depending on your project specifics. Base price for non-patch projects is $185 plus amount listed.

With the 2021 version of the IRC utilizing an absolutely-no-drywall-products-behind-wet-walls policy (like the walls and even the floors in your tub or shower stall), it’s all the more important for us to ensure that the appropriate backer board is used when installing tiling and backer walls in shower and tub stalls (R.702.4.2 & accompanying table)
In order to ensure a reduction in the amount of molds and mildews taking up residency behind the walls in your shower and tub stalls, any type of drywall, yes even green board, paperless options and purple board, is a big no-no.
SO!
If you’ve got an entity thinking it’s okay or talking about installing drywall behind a wet wall where you later intend to put tile work or even pre-manufactured tub or shower walls, understand that this method is dated and no longer an acceptable way to build out shower and tub stalls.
Even if you’re utilizing products like Red Guard, plastic sheeting or other waterproofing wall cavity membranes, you always want to use a concrete backer board that is compatible with table R702.4.2 of the residential building code to ensure your walls are safe and protected as WELL as being setup for a long standing success.
It’s understandable that there may be a bit of worry about whether or not possible hires for this project may or may not know what they’re doing or how to do it, even after 20-30 years in business, and it’s even more unsettling to think all that money spent to rebuild would be wasted due to stubbornly holding onto dated building practices or lack of the “why?” factor to begin with.
Youve got to remember that you shouldn’t ever feel as if you’re being a burden. At the end of the day, It’s your home, your space and your money.
Why wouldn’t you put it where you know beyond any doubt that it’s going to be done right and is going to be an investment in the equity of your home that will last until you want to change it up again instead of it only lasting a few years and then HAVING to change it up again because it failed and is leaking all over the place now.
Allworx Handyman Services does concrete backer board installation, repair and replacement, along with the rest of your wet walls and waterproofing.
